TIDBRF Team Captains' Meeting and GTDBC Kick-off Party (04/05/2002)
When – Wednesday, April 17th 2002
Time – 6 pm: Information meeting for all team captains
7 pm: Party for all the team members until ???
Where – The Alice Fazooli’s (Crabshack Bar) 294 Adelaide Street West @ John Street
Why – Why not. We all like a good party and it’s a great opportunity to meet fellow paddlers. Oh, and there will be complimentary appetizers, good music and lots of prizes including a round-trip airline ticket anywhere you want to go! This is also a chance to meet your coach and the rest of our fun coaching staff. There will also be a table set up sampling team apparel and uniforms for teams that have not already ordered their own.
Cost – A mere $10 per ticket from your friendly GTDBC party rep or at the door. Please email your team’s ticket requests to dragons@dragonboats.com
Proceeds go towards GTDBC initiatives. Things like youth and disabled paddling programs, international dragon boat endeavors, technical dragon boat clinics and other activities to promote dragon boat development in the GTA!

TIDBRF Team Captains' Meeting and Kick-off Party (04/02/2001)
There will be a Captains' Meeting for all the teams registered for the Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival, before the 2001 season Kick-off Party (see below). All team captains are invited to attend the meeting, and everyone, paddlers or non-paddlers, are invited to the party.

Location: The Bohemian CafeThere will be lots of door and raffle prizes plus DJ music. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. All proceeds will go towards our Greater Toronto Dragon Boat Clubs Crews representing Canada this year at the 2001 World Dragon Boat Championships in Philadelphia.
TIDBRF Steersperson (Coxing) Clinic (04/02/2001)
The Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival Steersperson Clinic will take place at the Sunnyside Pavilion at the time and date shown below. It is intended for people who wish to learn how to steer a dragon boat. There will be theory instruction for about an hour, and then there will be actual water time for the novices under the supervision of experienced steerspersons.
If your crew wishes to get some extra water practice time (free) as guinea pigs for the novice steerspersons, please contact Fred or Blake. See you there!

Getting there:
By TTC: Take the 501 (Queen) Streetcar. Get off at Brock Street. If they are doing construction on Queen, then still take the 501 Streetcar, it will be diverted to King Street at Shaw. Get off on King at Elm Grove, walk up two blocks to Quees Street then walk one block west to the library.
By Car: Coming from the West: Gardiner exit at Jameson to Queen. Turn right on Queen Street.
Coming from the East: Gardiner exit at Dunn to Queen. Turn right on Queen Street.
Parking: There is limited parking on the side streets or a City Parking Lot on Queen just west of the Library. (however, you can park in the Staff lot...turn in the laneway that runs off Cowan beside the Library)

The Parade of Dragons for the 12th Annual Toronto International Dragon Boat Race
Festival

The Parade for the Dragon Boat Race Festival 2000 is on Sunday, June 18. The Rally Party is on June 22. Team captains or managers please read or download the ticket order form for the party.
The Parade of Dragons will be marching its way through the streets of downtown Toronto on Sunday, June 18, 2000 to officially launch the 2000 Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival. Your company / team can participate in this colorful and unique spectacle with a float or a parade of your own team. We encourage you to develop your own concepts. The Parade will start at Queen’s Park at 12:00 p.m. and will finish at Nathan Phillips Square at 2:00 p.m. Please see map.
If your company or team would like to participate please contact our office by email or call (416)598-8945 for registration form and fax it back to the festival office at (416) 595-7334 no later than June 11, 2000. Looking for volunteers to help with the Youth Spirit Challenge
These Youth have a variety of Disabilities and will compete against each other on the Island. Practice time to be determined. The race will take place on Saturday June 24 during the Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival.

Information with regards to the Club Crew Try-outs
(05/01/2000)
1) The Make-up test and the Masters test will be on Saturday, May 6th, 2000 at 3:00-5:00pm
2) Athletes signed up for the test on April 30th who did not show up and did not inform us are not eligible for the make-up test
3) The Masters standards are 5% lower in every category
4) Submissions for Saturday, May 6's test must be received by Friday, May 5 at 5pm. There will not be a schedule posted. Registered athletes please show up at the Don Rowing Club at 3pm.
5) The results from April 30's test will not be released until after May 6th, when everybody has done the test

Pizza & Beer Party at the Sunnyside Cafe (practice site) (04/26/2000)
There will be a Pizza & Beer Party at our practice site on Thursday night, May 4, 2000, with lots of pizza and beer. This is simply a fun event. Thanks to the Sunnyside Cafe for donating the pizza and beer. All dragonboat paddlers are welcome.

GTDBC Club-Crews Fund Raising Party was a huge success. (04/21/2000)
Thanks to all that attended our party (April 19, 2000) and for your support. You've made our fund-raising party a huge success. There were over 450 people at the party and we all had a great time. We were asked by many to do this again later in the year.
Congratulations to all the door-prize draw winners and the winner of the Grand Prize raffle ticket draw, Anthony Que. He won a free flight ticket to anywhere in the world, donated by Air Canada.
Try-outs for the Eastern Canadian Dragon Boat Team (04/21/2000)
The Greater Toronto Dragon Boat Club and The Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival are currently developing teams to compete for the right to represent Canada at the World Championships in Philadelphia next year. To secure these spots we must win the races we enter this year. These races are qualifying races to be held in Vancouver and Toronto. In Vancouver we will be assembling a Mixed and a Women's team, and in Toronto two Men's teams. A Masters and possibly a Junior team will also be assembled. Try-outs for these teams will be held on a later date, and standards for these try-outs will be announced later.

This is a fund-raising party for the Greater Toronto Dragon Boat Club club-crews (Men's, Women's, Master's, Mixed, & Junior teams) to participate in the out-of-town races. (Try-out for the teams will be scheduled in May.) There will be DJ music, dancing, door prizes, snacks... Want to find out how dragonboaters party and have fun, here's your chance.
